Leadership
What is your favorite aspect of being a leader?

Helping others understand what leadership is and what it takes to be a leader.

What advice do you have for women aspiring to be leaders in their field?

Do the hard work of finding out who you are, what your values are, and what destiny you are designing for yourself.

Can you name a person who has had a tremendous impact on you as a leader? Maybe someone who has been a mentor to you? Why and how did this person impact your life?

Several including Ayn Rand, Jack Welch, Wilma Mankiller

What do you see as the biggest challenge facing female leaders today?
  • Critical and analytical thinking
  • Understanding and finessing the art of leadership
  • Knowing who you are
  • Equalized ego
    • From my book Leadership: Wisdom in a Nutshell, “It can be hard to find a good balance between hard work, humility, and reward. An equalized ego will get others to believe in you and see you as the leader you can be. When the ego gets out of sync, you can be seen as completely self-absorbed and self-serving, or at the other extreme, you can be seen as a doormat. Neither of the extreme is helpful and won’t be tolerated by those on the move upward.”
CWLI
Approximately how many years have you been involved with CWLI and in what committees do you participate?

Since Day 1

What changes do you hope to see in the organization as it grows?

I would like to see more emphasis on foundational elements of leadership and the traits that complement them.

What strides do you think members can take to make more of a difference in women’s leadership issues in the local community?
  • Raise your hand
  • Engage others with intention
  • Ask question
How would you best describe the benefit found in joining this organization?

You meet a lot of other women so you have an opportunity to help many other women grow and learn.
