July Director’s Report

What Next?

When was the last time you stopped to reflect? If you’re like us, you have been in survival mode for a very long time. It feels like we aren’t any closer to the end of this pandemic than we were on March 13 when the world turned upside down.

But when we give ourselves permission to reflect, we discover the opportunity of this moment.

The events of the last five months have highlighted vulnerabilities in our society about expectations placed on women. Professional women have been impacted immensely.

These last many weeks have given us time to observe and reflect on our role in many aspects of how we move FORward from here. That’s why we have been working to make some big changes that we will roll out over the next few weeks. Here are six ways we are pivoting right now.

  1. We are building a platform where you can access digital content that was once reserved for our face-to-face offerings. We are working hard to curate content that you have told us through our surveys is relevant for where you are right now. We desire to meet you where you are and walk through these next difficult months together.
  2. We are revamping the way we communicate with you. We want you to have the best possible member experience when you interface with our community. Our new Membership & Marketing Coordinator, Caroline Jewell, will be working to ensure you are plugged in and ready to connect.
  3. We are establishing a 1:1 mentoring program. If you would like to be placed with a mentor or you’re willing to be a mentor, please email Caroline@cwli.org to begin the process.
  4. We are reimagining how work life for women can look in the future. We are making big plans that we are excited to share with you in near future. For now, thank you for your continued confidence in us as we pivot during this time.
  5. We are committed to anti-racism and what that means for CWLI. Your board of directors started with an honest and difficult conversation on July 13 about the realities for women of color in our community and how we have a responsibility to become more representative. We know this is no easy task for our agency and we are asking for allies as we work to be better and provide a safe place for ALL women to share and belong.
  6. We are building a community just for you. We anticipate a launch in the next three weeks that, we think, is going to make interacting with one another better than ever before. We have heard you and are working to respond with an improved member directory and member experience that will enhance your ability to grow your network or business. More to come soon!

In 2019 we began laying a solid foundation for leaning into the idea of INSTITUTE. If we are going to grow female leaders, we have to stay the course even during the most difficult of times. Our team can’t thank you enough for supporting our mission to increase the leadership capabilities and influence of women. We have depended on your support and that of the community to weather this storm. It is our great hope that in the next few weeks you will embrace the bold changes we are making and that we will multiply our influence throughout the community.

Let’s move FORward Together!
